A case has been registered in the Kotwali police station against 5 accused in the case of injuries to 4 prisoners in the clash that took place between the prisoners in Barrack 3/7 in the Modern Jail of Kapurthala, Punjab on Friday evening. However, one of the detainees is undergoing treatment in the Medical College, Amritsar.

Jail Superintendent Shyamal Jyoti confirmed the matter and said that the incident is being seriously investigated. After investigation, some other accused can also be included in the FIR.

Case registered against 5 accused

According to the FIR lodged in the police station, the complainant, Jalandhar resident, undertrial Sunil Kumar, said that when the prison opened in barrack number 3/7 on Friday evening, Simranjit Singh, Vishal, Ammu, Bhaiya and Gaggu, undertrial Mukesh, son of Umesh, resident of Bihar, were found with sharp weapons and iron. Were hitting with rods. The complainant also told that when he went to rescue them, the accused also attacked him with a sharp needle. In which he also got injured.

After the incident, 4 prisoners were admitted to the Civil Hospital of Kapurthala for treatment. Which stars Simran Jeet Singh, Vishal, Sunil, and Mukesh. Seeing the serious condition of Mukesh, the duty doctor has referred him to Amritsar Medical College.

On the complaint of complainant Sunil Kumar, the police station has registered an FIR against the prisoners Simranjit Singh, Vishal, Ammu, Bhaiya and Gaggu under sections of BNS and Prisoner Act.

On the other hand, Jail Superintendent Shyamal Jyoti, while confirming the incident, said that prisoner Simranjit Singh is lodged in a murder case, and the rest of the prisoners are lodged in NDPS cases.
