In Kharar of Mohali district, a fake employee of a government agency has cheated a businessman of Rs 20 lakh by luring him to make the government rice stock available soon. In this case, on the orders of SSP Mohali Deepak Pareek, Kharar Sadar Police arrested four accused including a woman.

Jind (Narwana) Subhash Chand Goyal, resident of Haryana, who is the owner of Goyal Industries Narwana, told in the complaint given to the police that he had gone to the office of the Government Agriculture Department in connection with the purchase of paddy and wheat. The officials there asked them to come after a few days saying that the stock was over.
This is how the accused conspired to cheat
According to the complaint, two days later, a person named Anmol called Subhash and claimed to be an employee of the government Agrifed company and promised to get him the stock of rice and wheat. On 12 May 2024, Subhash was called to a hotel in Mohali, where another person was also present along with Anmol. These people, claiming to be employees of a government agency, promised to get 2000 tonnes of rice in 10-12 days.
Absconded with Rs 20 lakh
According to Subhash, Rs 20 lakh was demanded in exchange for providing the stock. On June 16, Subhash handed over Rs 20 lakh to Anmol’s aunt Tina in Kurali. Tina kept Rs 15 lakh for herself, while took Rs 5 lakh and gave it to Anmol in Sector-86 Mohali. After this, when Subhash came to buy rice, he came to know that the stock had not arrived.
Police registered the case
When Subhash tried to contact the accused, they started evasiveness. Ultimately Subhash lodged a complaint with the police. Police have registered a case against village Badali Allah Singh, Fatehgarh Sahib resident Anmol alias Ashu Sharma, Sukhjinder Singh, Babbal Sharda and Kurali resident Anmol’s aunt Tina and started investigation.
