Punjab News: AAP announced 784 candidates for the municipal elections

There is only one day left to file nomination papers and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has announced 784 candidates for the upcoming Municipal Corporation (MC) elections on Wednesday.

This announcement was made by AAP Punjab President Aman Arora and Working President Amansher Singh Sherry Kalsi. The party is to announce candidates for 977 wards of five municipal corporations and 44 municipal councils. Aman Arora said that the rest of the candidates will be announced soon.

On the other hand, the Congress released the first list of 63 candidates for the municipal elections on Tuesday. The party fielded most of the new faces. However, a dispute has arisen with senior Congress leaders and former MLA Bains brothers over ticket distribution as both are demanding tickets for their respective confidants.

It is to be noted that the elections of five Municipal Corporations of Punjab Amritsar, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Patiala and Phagwara and 44 Municipal Councils and Nagar Panchayats are to be held on December 21. The process of filing nominations started on December 9 and the last date is December 12. Scrutiny of nomination papers will be held on December 13 and the last date for withdrawal of nominations is December 14.
