Punjab News – Bal Puraskar: 10-year-old mountaineer Sanvi Sood of Rupnagar was also among the 17 children who received the National Child Award from President Draupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi on Thursday. Sanvi Sood was given this award on the occasion of Veer Bal Diwas by the Ministry of Women and Child Welfare.
Sanvi Sood’s father Deepak Sood said that 17 children from across India were given this award for their achievements in various fields and Sanvi is the only girl from Punjab to receive this award. He said that Sanvi came into the limelight after climbing many high peaks of international level at the age of 8.
So far, she has climbed many mountains in Africa, Russia, Australia and Iran, apart from Mount Everest base camp. Sanvi Sood of Rupnagar is currently studying at Yadvindra Public School Mohali.
