Punjab Vigilance Bureau has arrested Municipal Corporation Bathinda Building Inspector Palwinder Singh and Bathinda Map Navis (Architect) Honey Munjal for taking an alleged bribe of Rs 30 thousand. A case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against both accused in Vigilance Bureau Thana Bathinda Range.

The spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said that the accused have been arrested on the basis of a complaint lodged by Sandeep Singh, a resident of village Burj Mahma, district Bathinda. He said that the complainant approached the Vigilance Bureau and alleged that the accused Inspector Palwinder Singh has demanded a bribe of Rs. According to the complaint, the said inspector demanded Rs 80,000 as bribe in exchange for passing three files and threatened to object to the files in case of not doing so.

The spokesperson further said that after the preliminary investigation of this complaint, a vigilance team of Bathinda unit laid a trap, during which the accused architect was arrested red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 30000 in the presence of two government witnesses. After this, the accused building inspector was also arrested. He said that further investigation of this case is going on.
