Dense fog and cold wave continue to rage in northern India including Punjab and Haryana. Today, visibility has reduced in around a dozen cities of Punjab due to dense fog. The temperature in the state has reached 8.5 degrees Celsius. Meteorologists have issued a ‘yellow alert’ on December 31 due to dense fog and cold in the state.
According to the information received from the Meteorological Department, today the visibility level was less than 50 meters due to dense fog in Punjab capital Chandigarh, Amritsar and many other cities. Visibility in Patiala was 250 meters and in Ludhiana it was 500 meters. Due to reduced visibility, people are facing trouble while driving. Meanwhile, many road accidents are also happening. Punjab Police has appealed to people to drive vehicles slowly to control road accidents.
Pathankot was the coldest
Today, Pathankot city of Punjab is the coldest during the day, where the maximum temperature was recorded at 11 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature was recorded at 6 degrees Celsius. Similarly, the maximum temperature in Chandigarh is 11.3 degrees Celsius, Amritsar 12.6, Ludhiana 13.8, Patiala 13, Gurdaspur 17.5, Faridkot 11.6, Bathinda 14.4, Barnala 12.8, Fatehgarh Sahib 12.7 in Ferozepur and 11.3 in Moga 11.2 degree Celsius has been recorded. It is 4 to 8 degrees Celsius below normal. Similarly, the maximum temperature was recorded in Ambala in Haryana at 12 degrees Celsius, Hisar at 14.5 degrees, Karnal at 13.2 degrees, Rohtak at 12.7 degrees and Gurugram at 13 degrees Celsius.
