The Punjab Police has arrested four persons, including a police officer, after a shootout in Tarn Taran on Wednesday.
The arrested persons have been identified as Yadwinder Singh, Kuldeep Singh both residents of Rudiwala, Prabhdeep Singh and Pawandeep Singh residents of Sarhali Clan. Pawandeep Singh, an ASI in the Punjab Police, allegedly handed over his pistol to the shooters, officials said.
Meanwhile, the police have also recovered a pistol with live cartridges, which was used in the incident. According to the police, Lakhbir Singh and Yadwinder Singh shot at the gate of the victim Veer Singh, a resident of Roodiwala in Tarn Taran and demanded a ransom of Rs 50 lakh.
Four associates of the Landa Harike gang have been arrested by the Punjab Police after an encounter in Tarn Taran district. In this regard, the police have registered an FIR under section 308 (4) and 35 (2) of the Indian Penal Code (BNS) in Chohla Sahib police station.
Police officials said that the two shooters were identified and a trap was laid to arrest them by acting swiftly on the basis of technical aspects and human intelligence. Meanwhile, the shooters opened fire on the police party and in the retaliatory action, Yadwinder Singh and Kuldeep Singh alias Laddu were injured. –ANI
