Almost half of the cabinet of the Punjab government reached the Dhabigujran border today as a delegation and met the farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal, who was on a fast to death for the last 30 days. State president of ‘AAP’ and cabinet minister Aman Arora, who is leading the delegation, said that the struggle of Dallewal is legitimate and said that the Punjab government is standing with them for the strengthening of the struggle and is ready for all possible help. The cabinet ministers, however, failed to convince Dallewal to give up his death fast. Dallewal flatly rejected this offer of the cabinet ministers.

Aman Arora said that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has been in constant contact with the central government to meet the demands of the farmers, but even on such a serious occasion, the stubborn attitude of the central government is reprehensible. He said that the delegation has requested Dallewal to continue his hunger strike, but allow the doctors to treat him, so that his precious life can be saved. He made it clear that the Punjab government has no program to forcibly remove Dallewal from the protest site. He reasoned that the Punjab government wants to save Dallewal’s life, which is why they have come today to request him to give up his death fast. In addition to Aman Arora in the delegation that came to meet Dallewal, Dr. Balbir Singh, Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal, Gurmeet Singh Khudian, Hardeep Singh Mundian, Laljit Singh Bhullar, Barinder Kumar Goyal and Taranjit Singh Sondh along with eight ministers, Executive President Sherry Kalsi and Chairman Ravi Ahluwalia were also present. Before the ministers, MP from Amritsar Gurjit Aujla also met Dallewal. Addressing the press conference after the meeting, Aman Arora said that the Punjab government is committed to save the entire people, including farmers and workers. He said that seeing the indifference of the Centre, this struggle can go on for a long time, for which a leader like Dallewal is more needed. This is the reason why they have appealed to Dallewal to give up his death fast.

If the Punjab government put so much emphasis on the centre, the situation would have been different: Dallewal

Farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal said that he appreciates the sentiments of the ministers of the Punjab government who came to meet him, but the state government is using as much force to break their death fast, if they put so much pressure on the central government, the situation might change. Be something else. Dallewal questioned the delegation of cabinet ministers as to what the Punjab government has done so far on the issue of agriculture. However, the reply of the ministers was that they are engaged in seriousness and the results are likely to come out soon. Dallewal said that the ‘AAP’ government should coordinate with other rival chief ministers and put pressure on the central government regarding farmers’ demands. On the other hand, the report of the tests done by the doctors the previous day is fine.
