Elections for sarpanch were held on Sunday in two villages Dalla and Pona of Jagraon assembly constituency of Ludhiana district. The results of the votes cast from 8 am to 5 pm were declared simultaneously. In the results revealed, the deposit of AAP candidate in village Pona was confiscated.

In both the villages, the Sarpanch candidates of Akali Dal and AAP Party were face to face. Whereas Congress and BJP were already unable to get their candidates in both the villages. Due to which both the parties had stayed away from the Sarpanch elections.
Harpreet Singh becomes Sarpanch in village Pona
According to the information, the main contest in village Pona was between Harpreet Singh Raju of Akali Dal and Block Social Media Incharge Kulwant Singh of Aam Aadmi Party. Akali Dal’s Harpreet Singh was contesting on the election symbol tractor, while Kulnawat Singh’s election symbol was bucket. In the results which came out just a few minutes after the elections ended at 5 pm, Akali candidate Harpreet Singh Raju defeated Kulmwat Singh in a one-sided contest.
Out of total 1217 votes, 767 people voted in village Pona. Out of which Akali Dal’s Harpreet Singh Raju got 683 votes, while AAP’s Kulanwat Singh got only 84 votes. While 10 votes were cancelled.

Gopal of AAP becomes Sarpanch from Dalla
Similarly in village Dalla also The contest was between former Market Committee Chairman of Akali Dal and senior Akali Dal leader Chand Singh Dalla and young leader Gopal Singh Pali Dalla. A few days ago, the atmosphere in the village was in favor of the Akali Dal. But as the election days approached, the youth of Pali Dalla were successful in bringing the people to their side. Out of the total 4543 votes of village Dalla, 2879 votes were cast. Out of which Akali Dal candidate Chand Singh Dalla lost to AAP’s Gopal Singh Pali Gill by a huge margin of 420 votes.
Akali Dal candidate Chand Singh Dalla got 1214 votes. While Gopal Pali Dalla got 1634 votes. Apart from this, 6 people of the village used NOTA and 25 votes were cancelled. Akali Party’s divisional in-charge SR Kaler said that he accepts the decision given by the people, and he respects the decision. Similarly, woman MLA Sarbjit Kaur Manuke had left for village Dalla after hearing the news of the victory of her party’s young candidate.
