Pushing outside Parliament, MP Pratap Sarangi injured, Rahul Gandhi accused of ‘pushing’

New Delhi, December 19

A fresh controversy erupted as parallel protests continued outside Parliament on both the Treasury and Opposition benches. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Pratap Chandra Sarangi on Thursday alleged that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi punched him and got hurt. Singh claimed that he was standing on the steps when another MP fell on him, causing injuries to his head.

“Rahul Gandhi pushed a member of Parliament who fell on me, after which I fell down… I was standing near the stairs,” he told reporters. On this occasion, the BJP MP was taken to the ambulance for treatment.

While reacting to this, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in his defense said that he was trying to enter the Parliament, when he too was pushed and threatened by the BJP MPs who were protesting near the entrance. He also alleged that Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge was also pushed.

Rahul Gandhi said, “It can happen in your camera. I was trying to enter through the Parliament entrance, but BJP MPs were trying to stop me, pushing and threatening me. Kharge was being pushed. But we will not be affected by the push, we have the right to enter. BJP MPs were trying to stop us from entering. He said that the central issue is that the BJP is attacking the Constitution and insulting the memory of Ambedkar. – ANI
