Rain, snow likely in Himachal: Forecast of rain and snow in many areas of Himachal

The Meteorological Department has said that in view of the Western Disturbance over the Western Himalayan region, rain and snow are likely to occur at different places in Himachal Pradesh on December 8 and 9. Heavy rain is likely to occur across the state in these two days. While Lahaul and Spiti, Chamba, Kinnaur, Kangra, Shimla and Kullu districts are likely to receive light to moderate snowfall at some places. He said light rain at some places in Solan, Sirmaur, Una, Bilaspur, Mandi and Hamirpur districts on Monday and Tuesday and rain or snow at isolated places in mid and high hills till Tuesday. The Meteorological Department has also issued yellow alert at many places in Una, Hamirpur, Bilaspur, Kangra, Mandi, Shimla, Solan and Sirmour districts on December 8.

Dense fog is expected in parts of Bilaspur in Mandi and Bhakra Dam reservoir area in Ballah Valley on December 9.

Earlier, the cold has increased in some parts of the state and the minimum temperature has dropped by two to four degrees Celsius at different places. Tabo in Himachal Pradesh was the coldest place with a minimum temperature of minus 8.9 degrees Celsius.
