Ravichandran Ashwin quietly returned to India from Australia on Thursday, a day after bidding farewell to cricket. Off-spinner Ravichandran gathered at the Chennai airport to welcome Ashwin. Airport officials brought Ashwin out. Meanwhile, Ashwin’s fans took pictures of him. Media persons also reached there but Ashwin did not speak to anyone. Ashwin announced his retirement from international cricket after the third Test against Australia on Wednesday. He will continue to play club cricket including the IPL.
Ashwin refused to answer any questions from reporters at the airport. Later, he interacted with selected journalists at his residence. He was asked if he regrets not captaining the Indian team. On this, Ashwin said, ‘I don’t regret anything. I have seen many people who live with one regret or another. I am not that kind of person.

In response to a question, Ashwin said, ‘I don’t have any plans at the moment. But I am going to play for Chennai Super Kings. I would like to play for CSK as long as possible. Ashwin’s days as an Indian cricketer are over. But there is still a lot to do as a cricketer.
After veteran cricketer Anil Kumble, Ashwin is the highest wicket-taker for India in Test cricket. He took 537 wickets in 106 matches. Anil Kumble has taken 619 wickets in Test cricket. R Ashwin also played 116 ODI matches for India, in which he took 156 wickets. In T20 international matches, he has taken 72 wickets in 65 matches.
