1. 8th edition of joint military exercise ‘Shakti’ started in France
On 18 June, the 8th edition of the joint military exercise ‘Shakti’ between India and France began in France.
Joint military exercise ‘Shakti’ is being held at Camp Larajack in La Kawalari, France
- The military exercise ‘Shakti’ will run till 1 July.
- 90-90 soldiers from both countries are participating in it.
- Practice ‘Shakti’ is a biennial (once every two years) joint military exercise between India and France.
- It started in 2011. It is held in turn in India and France.
- Its previous 7th edition took place in Umroi, Meghalaya in May 2024.
2. ‘Youth Award’ and ‘Bal Sahitya Award’ announced
On 18 June, Sahitya Akademi announced the youth and child literature awards. The names of 23 writers for ‘Yuva Award’ and 24 writers for ‘Children’s Sahitya Award’ were announced.
The awards were announced at the Executive Meeting held under the chairmanship of Madhav Kaushik, President of Sahitya Akademi.
- Youth awards will be given in 23 languages, while no youth awards were given in Dogri this year.
- The winners will be given a copper plaque, a shawl, and a cash amount of Rs 50,000.

Railway Recruitment Board has issued a notification for recruitment for 6,180 posts of technicians. The application process for this recruitment will start from June 28. Candidates can apply by visiting the official website rrbapply.gov.in. Short notification of this recruitment has been published in the employment news of 16 June.
Vacancy Details:
- Technician Grade I Signal: 1100 posts
- Takanishian Grade II Signal : 7900 padders
- Total number of posts: 6180
Educational qualification:
Technician Grade-1 (Signal):
- BSc in Physics, Electronics, Computer Science, Information Technology (IT) or Instrumentation (B.Sc)
- Diploma or engineering degree is also valid in related subjects.
Technician Grade-3:
- 10th pass
- ITI or apprenticeship should be fulfilled in the related trade.
Edge Limit:
Technician Grade I Signal:
- Minimum: 18 years
- Maximum: 33 years
Technician Grade III:
- Minimum: 18 years
- Maximum: 30 years
Fees:
- SC/ST, Ex -servicemen, PWD, Women, Transgender, Minority or Economically Backward Classes: Rs 250
- All other candidates: 500 rupees
Salary:
- 19,900 – Rs 29,200 per month
Selection Process:

1. QS World University Rankings IIT Delhi Best University of the country
The QS World University Ranking 2026 was released on 18 June. This year, IIT Delhi has become the best university in the country. It has got the 123rd position in the World rankings. Last year, IIT Delhi ranked 150.
The Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA, has retained the top position for the 14th consecutive year. This year the list includes a total of 54 Indian universities. This number was 46 last year.
2. A campus of National Forensic Science University will be ready in Chhattisgarh
A campus of National Forensic Science University i.e. NFSU will be set up in Chhattisgarh. Chhattisgarh Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma announced this.
This campus will be built on 40 acres of land in Naya Raipur. Infrastructure of this campus will be developed by the central government at a cost of about 350 to 400 crore rupees.
Along with this, the Forensic Lab of the Government of Chhattisgarh will also be built on additional land of 6 to 7 acres. Till the permanent campus of NFSU is ready, studies will be started through a transit campus.
