Renowned director of bold films, first movie made on prostitution, gave work to Amitabh Bachchan-Shatrughna Sinha

The real name of BR Ishara was Roshan Lal Sharma. BR Hydhara, who came to Mumbai from Himachal Pradesh, started his career by serving tea on the set of films and then became a spot boy. Over time, his interest kept increasing and even the dialogue writer and then became a film director. He got recognition from films like his consciousness, what people will say, reconciliation, mind, ghar ki laz, he will come again and Sautela Bhai.

BR Ishara raised social issues through his films. He made films on the forbidden subject of that time like prostitution. Director BR Hydhara created panic in the 1970-80s with bold theme films. He was such a director who brought the trend of making bold films in a low budget. Her first film was Chetna, which had the story of a call girl. The film made a splash at the box office.

BR Ishara exposed the complexities of relationships, social taboo and human emotions in films. He made the film ‘Ek Nazar’ with Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan in 1972, in which a young poet wants to marry a young woman forced to forced prostitution. In the 1974 film Prem Shastra, the story of taboo in relationships was raised, with Zeenat Aman and Dev Anand.
