Republic Day: India gears up for parade showcasing military might and cultural heritage

India completed 75 years of its federal democratic republic on Sunday. Meanwhile, the country’s military strength and cultural heritage will be displayed in the form of tableaus on the duty path. More than 10,000 special guests have been invited to witness the parade on January 26, including members of the Paralympic team, sarpanchs of performance villages, artisans and forest and wildlife conservation personnel. President Draupadi Murmu will lead the country on this important occasion while Indonesian President Parabowo Subianto is the Chief Guest of the Republic Day. The parade will also feature Indonesian marching and band squads. President Murmu and his Indonesian counterpart will arrive in a ‘traditional buggy’. The tradition was resumed in 2024 after 40 years.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated the countrymen on the occasion of the 76th Republic Day. He prayed that this national festival should preserve the values ​​of the Constitution and strengthen the ongoing efforts in the direction of building a strong and prosperous India. In a post on X, the Prime Minister said, “Happy Republic Day! Today we are celebrating the 75th anniversary of our glorious Republic Day. On this occasion, we pay tribute to all those great personalities who, by framing our constitution, ensured that our development journey is based on democracy, pride and unity.
