New Delhi, December 9
Leaders of the India Alliance staged a funny skit on Monday during a protest at the Parliament complex over the Adani dispute. Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi conducted a mock ‘interview’ on the issue with Congress members wearing masks of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and industrialist Gautam Adani standing outside the Makar Dwara of Parliament.
In the Lok Sabha, Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, along with MPs from other opposition parties, staged a protest raising slogans of “Modi, Adani Ek Hai” and “We want justice”.
Interviewed persons wearing masks of Modi and Adani
After the sloganeering, Rahul Gandhi conducted a mock interview with Congress leaders wearing masks of Modi and Adani. Gandhi asked party member Adani’s sporting mask why Parliament was not being allowed to function, to which the Congress MP (posing as Adani) said, “We have to ask Amit Bhai… That man is missing”. When Gandhi was asked about the relationship between the two, the Congress MP said that we are together.
Adani’s sporting mask also said, “He does whatever I say and want…be it the airport or something else.” On why Modi was silent, Congress MP posing as Adani (mask) said, “This man is under stress these days” and there was laughter all around.
Asked what his next plan is and what he proposes to buy now, the Congress MP wearing an Adani mask said, “We have not decided yet. We have a meeting this evening.”
Trinamool Congress, Samajwadi Party and Aam Aadmi Party were not part of the protest. MPs from the Left DMK, Shiv Sena (UBT), RJD and NCP raised slogans and demanded a discussion and probe into the Adani group. The protest took place in front of the steps of Parliament’s Makar Dwar after the Lok Sabha Secretariat advised against protesting on the steps.
Since the start of the winter session of the opposition on the Adani issue, protests have been going on inside the Parliament complex. The Congress and some other opposition parties are demanding a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) probe after Adani and other company officials were indicted in a US court. News-Patiala
