RS chairman Dhankhar: Rajya Sabha chairman acting as government spokesperson: Kharge

New Delhi, December 11

Various opposition parties on Wednesday alleged that the Rajya Sabha Chairman’s “biased” attitude has forced them to send a no-confidence motion notice to remove Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar from the post of Vice President. He said that in the upper house of the parliament, politics is being given priority instead of rules.

Addressing a press conference at the Constitution Club here, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge alleged that Dhankhar was acting as a government spokesman and behaving like a school headmaster and often an experienced opponent. Give opinions to leaders and prevent them from speaking in the House. Kharge also claimed that Dhankhar himself is responsible for the disruption and noise in the House.

The Congress president said that since 1952, no resolution has ever been brought against the Vice President under Article 67 of the Constitution because the people who have held this position have never played politics and worked impartially.

On this occasion, DMK leader Tiruchi Siva said that this is an attack on the country’s democracy in Parliament by the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), while Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Nadimul Haque said that he agreed with the Leader of the Opposition. “We are not being allowed to express our views in the Rajya Sabha,” Haque said. Sanjay Raut of Shiv Sena (UBT) said, “It seems that the Chairman is not running the Parliament, but a circus. He eats time by talking himself.” News-Patiala
