Sachin Tendulkar requested BCCI to show his mother his last match, know the full story


Wankhede Stadium, which has witnessed many memorable matches of international cricket, has completed 50 years. On this occasion, many legends including current captain Rohit Sharma, Sunil Gavaskar, Sachin Tendulkar (Sachin Tendulkar) were invited to the grand function of the Mumbai Cricket Association.

On this special occasion, master blaster Sachin Tendulkar shared his memorable story related to Wankhede. He said that he had played the last match of his career on this ground for which he had made a special request to the BCCI.

Sachin Tendulkar said that while playing his last Test against the West Indies in 2013, he faced such emotions, which are difficult to describe in words. He said, “When the schedule of the series against the West Indies was announced, I called N Srinivasan (the then BCCI president) and requested if the second and last match of the series could be played at Wankhede because I wanted it. My mother wants to see me play my last match.

He said, “My mother had never come to a stadium and seen me play before. At that time her health was such that she could not go anywhere else except Wankhede. BCCI very kindly accepted that request and my mother and entire family were in Wankhede that day. Today, when I step into Wankhede, I am experiencing the same emotions.”

Tendulkar said that after reaching the final of the ODI World Cup in 2003, India won the World Cup at this ground in 2011. “It was without a doubt the best moment of my life,” he also mentioned about walking onto the field on his teammates’ shoulders after winning the World Cup.
