Mumbai, January 19
Mumbai Police has arrested the main accused who attacked Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan with a knife. Preliminary investigations revealed that the assailant, who is a Bangladeshi national, was unaware that he had entered the Bollywood actor’s house. A senior police officer told reporters that the accused had entered the house with the intention of stealing. The official said that the assailant was arrested from Hiranandani Estate on Godbandar Road in the adjoining Thane district.
According to the official, the real name of the accused is Shariful Islam Shahzad Muhammad Rohila Amin Fakir and he changed his name to Bijoy Das after entering India. The accused, whose age is around 30 years, is a resident of Jhalokati, Bangladesh. He was living in Mumbai for the last five months and used to do odd jobs. The police is trying to collect the documents used by the accused to enter India illegally. The assailant entered the 12th floor apartment of the Bollywood actor in ‘Satguru Sharan’ building in Bandra and stabbed Khan six times with a knife. Khan is undergoing treatment at Lilavati Hospital after an emergency surgery. According to the doctors, the condition of the actor is stable and he will be discharged from the hospital soon. -News-Patiala
