Actor Khan (54) was attacked with a knife with a knife in his 12th floor apartment on January 16 this year. He had an emergency surgery at Lilavati Hospital, from where he was discharged after five days.

The police arrested Mohammad Shariful Islam (30) from Thane, two days after the incident. He is currently lodged in Arthur Road Jail of Mahanagar. In his bail plea filed through advocate Vipul Dushing on Friday, the accused Islam claimed that he was innocent and has no prior criminal record.

The petition of accused Mohammad Shariful Islam said that the investigation of the incident is almost complete, now only the charge sheet is yet to be filed. Islam also said that important evidence including CCTV footage and call records already exists with the prosecution.
