Sambhal Violence: Rahul Gandhi, who was going on a Sambhal tour, was stopped at the Gazipur border

Sambhal Violence: Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi was stopped on his way to the district on the Gazipur border here on Wednesday due to orders prohibiting the entry of outsiders into Sambhal. To go to Sambhal, Rahul Gandhi, his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and other senior Congress leaders reached Gazipur border early in the morning, where heavy police force was deployed and barricades were put up to prevent them from entering Sambhal.

Restrictions under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Security Code (BNSS) in this area have now been extended till December 31. Sambhal District Magistrate Rajendra Pansia on Tuesday wrote to the Police Commissioners of Gautam Budh Nagar and Ghaziabad and the Superintendents of Police of Amroha and Bulandshahr districts urging them to stop Rahul Gandhi at the borders of their districts. “We will not allow Rahul Gandhi to go to Sambal as prohibitory orders have been issued by the administration there,” Ghaziabad Police Commissioner Ajay Kumar Mishra told PTI.
