One person died after being hit by an unknown vehicle late night near a warehouse on the Bathinda-Zirakpur National Highway in Sangrur, Punjab. The deceased could not be identified. Police reached the spot, took possession of the body and sent it for postmortem.

ASI Amandeep Singh told that, while going from Bhawanigarh to Patiala on Bathinda-Zirakpur National Highway, late night he found the body of a person lying on the road near the warehouses. The deceased person could not be identified because his head was badly crushed.
He said that preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased, aged around 45 to 50 years, was crushed by an unknown vehicle while going on the highway and the driver fled from the spot.
He said that no identity document was recovered from the clothes of the deceased. Therefore, to identify the person, photographs of his dead body were posted on various social media sites and the body will be kept in the mortuary at Sangrur Civil Hospital for the next 72 hours.
