The house of an Army jawan in a village near Sangrur in Punjab was raided by the NIA this morning. National Investigation Agency NIA, on suspicion, raided the house of an Indian Army soldier in nearby village Majhi.

The NIA team, with the help of the local police, raided the army jawan’s house at around 6.30 am. Searched the army jawan’s house for about two to two and a half hours. The family members were interrogated and their mobile phones were also examined. On talking to the family members in this regard, the brother of the said soldier told that this morning suddenly a large number of police reached his house. Police officers interrogated him and also searched the house. Nothing wrong was found in his house nor did the police take away any mobile phone or any other item from his house.

Wife uses husband’s SIM card
He told that his brother is posted in the Indian Army and the mobile SIM card in his brother’s name is with his sister-in-law i.e. the soldier’s wife. He told that when his sister-in-law had gone to her maternal house, the police raided his house today on the basis of suspicion that his sister-in-law’s brother was talking to someone on his sister’s phone. He said that we told the team that came to investigate that we do not know the said person nor do we have anything to do with him.
Talking to Bhawanigarh Sub Division DSP Rahul Kansal, he said that a raid has been conducted by NIA in village Majhi today. The local police is not aware on what basis NIA has conducted this raid. He said that we had provided police force to the NIA team only for security.
