Punjab Vigilance Bureau officials have arrested constable Kinder Singh posted in police station Garhshankar for accepting a bribe of Rs 30,000. The co-accused in this case is SHO. Baljinder Singh Malhi evaded arrest and fled the scene. The spokesperson of the State Vigilance Bureau said that a case has been registered against the said policeman on the basis of a complaint filed by Hardeep Kaur, a resident of Sub Division Nangal of District Rupnagar.
He said that the complainant approached the Vigilance Bureau and complained that the said accused S.H.O. In the name of Inspector Baljinder Singh Malhi, a demand of Rs.1 lakh was made for not implicating her (Hardeep Kaur) brother in a drug case, who has been arrested by the police along with others in connection with a dispute. In this case, the deal was settled for 50,000 rupees. The spokesman said that after the preliminary investigation of this complaint, the team of Vigilance Bureau from Hoshiarpur unit laid a trap and caught the said policeman red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs. 30,000 from the complainant in the presence of two government witnesses. During this operation SHO Baljinder Singh Malhi evaded arrest and fled the scene. In this regard, a case has been registered against both the accused under the Prevention of Corruption Act in the Jalandhar range of the Vigilance Bureau.
