The Kirti Kisan Union held a special meeting of the villages in Chogawan area of Punjab under the leadership of the state leader Dhanwant Singh Khataray Kalan at the Gurdwara Sahib of Saudiya village. During this session, two minutes of silence was observed in memory of the farmers who were martyred in the peasant struggle. On this occasion, Dhanwant Singh said that the central government wants to end the government markets by sending the draft of the national agricultural marketing policy to the state governments. He said that this draft can never be accepted under which dharnas will be held in front of the offices of Deputy Commissioners on the invitation of the United Kisan Morcha tomorrow, December 23. They demanded that a law should be made to give MSP on all crops, proper compensation should be given to the wheat farmers affected by pink blight, Rs 10,000 per month pension should be given to the head of every farming family and one for household supplies. Installation of electricity smart meters should be stopped.
After the meeting, the delegates elected the office-bearers of the block robes, in which Sukhraj Singh was elected as the president, Gurmukh Singh as the secretary, Kashmir Singh as the vice-president, and a 21-member working committee was also honored. Kabal Singh Chhina and Harpal Singh Chhina etc. were present on this occasion.
