World famous Punjabi sports writer Principal Sarwan Singh’s newly published sports book ‘Sansar De Popular Sportsman’ was presented to the public in a gathering organized by Punjabi Lok Virasat Akademi Ludhiana. On this occasion Prof. Gurbhajan Singh Gill said that after Balbir Singh Kanwal, Principal Sarwan Singh is the flag bearer of sports literature who has written more than 90 works till this book.

By creating sports literature from 1965-66, Principal Sarwan Singh has also made a significant contribution to building sports culture throughout his lifetime. Prof. Gill said that he was proud that even during the public launch of his first book published in 1981, he was present in his native village Chakar (Ludhiana) along with hockey Olympian Pirthipal Singh, wrestler Gurbaksh Singh Dodhar and Jathedar Tota Singh.

Explaining about the book, Principal Sarwan Singh said that this book contains information about 30 sportsmen of the world. This is the second book in this series published by People’s Forum Bargari (Faridkot). Sports writer Navdeep Singh Gill said that only because of the inspiration of Principal Sarwan Singh, he has given 14 books to sports literature. Surjit Sports Association Batala President Pirthipal Singh Batala said that the writings of the Principal Sahib have made the youth of Punjab the joy of sports fields. On this occasion, the guest from Pakistan, Dr. Abid Sherwani and Dr. Wasim was presented with copies of Gurbhajan Gill’s three poetry books Khair Panan Pani Di, Mirgavali and Surtal published in Shahmukhi. All the guests including him presented the souvenir sports flag of the 31st Kamaljit Games of Surjit Sports Association Batala.
