Mumbai, January 24
Indian benchmark indices opened higher on Friday with the Nifty Bank, Auto, FMCG and IT sectors leading the morning trade, extending gains for the third day this week. In early trade, the Nifty rose 0.31 percent to 23,277, while the 30-share Sensex gained 0.31 percent to 76,765. 7 out of 12 sectors advanced on the NSE, Nifty Metals and Nifty Oil & Gas were the top gainers.
Meanwhile, ICICI Bank, Bharti Airtel, Infosys and Powergrid contributed to the advance on Nifty 50. Although Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries, Apollo Hospitals Enterprise, Maruti Suzuki, and Kotak Mahindra Bank weighed on the benchmark index. IANS
