Education is called the third eye of man and if this education is mainly based on scientific and social consciousness and moral values, then a developed society and structure can be created by directing the society towards pro-people social and cultural change. . Although the scientists of our country have acknowledged their scientific achievement in the whole world by reaching the moon through Chandrayaan-3 with the help of science and technology, but the gap between science and scientific perspective has become a big obstacle in the development of our country. The school education syllabus of our country is mostly filled with non-scientific, conservative and mythological curriculum which prevents the inculcation of scientific outlook among the students and causes various superstitions, superstitions, pessimism and social ills to spread among them. are also made
It is unfortunate that for the last ten years under the political agenda of the central government, in the name of reducing the burden on the students, scientific consciousness, Darwin’s theory of evolution, the origin of man, democracy, secularism, federal structure, democratic rights, natural resources have been removed from the education curriculum. Astrology by taking out the basic and important syllabus related to maintenance, sources of energy, history of Mughals, revolutionary poems etc. Various types of conservative, mythical and backward curriculums including Vastu Shastra have been introduced which are proving fatal for the development of students, society and the country.
According to Article 51-A(H) of the Constitution of India, it is the constitutional duty of every Indian citizen to develop scientific thinking and sense of humanity in the society as well as to know the natural and unnatural phenomena happening around him and Try to develop the spirit of improvement in them. The fact is that in order to make a person healthy and self-confident and to create a better society, it is necessary to be equipped with scientific and combative thinking.
Keeping this purpose in mind, for the last six years, the rational society Punjab has been conducting the student consciousness test in a large number of schools in Punjab to test the consciousness of the students. The objective of this examination is to inculcate scientific consciousness among the students, to free them from superstitions and all kinds of superstitions and to introduce them to the real heroes of the society, scientists, philosophers, educationists, immortal martyrs and honorable history so that they By having high moral values, self-confidence and the spirit of struggle, they can shine the name of the society and the country.
For this examination two different books are published by the society every year for middle (sixth to eighth) and secondary (ninth to twelfth) groups and are provided to the students two months before the examination out of which 100 questions of objective type. Based on the exam is taken. The meritorious students at state, zone and unit level in this examination are awarded with cash prizes, books, mementos and certificates. Apart from this, certificates are given to the students who secure better places in the examination. To honor such students, special honor functions are conducted at the state, zone and unit level.
This time the state award ceremony was held on December 22 in Barnala in which 30 students were honored. Eminent thinker Harvinder Bhandal, who participated as the keynote speaker, said that scientific consciousness is the main basis of human development till today, but after independence, the ruling classes, instead of developing scientific consciousness in education policy, added superstition, orthodox and mythological curriculum. Students have been deprived of adopting a scientific approach.
Every year there is a huge response from school heads, principals, teachers and students for this mental test. Every year the number of students, schools and examination centers is increasing. Starting from 2017, about 5500, 10600 in the second year, 17240 in the third year, 25075 in the fourth year, 36253 in the fifth year and a total of 30585 this year were registered for this consciousness examination. These exams have been dedicated in different years to Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh, Kartar Singh Sarabha, Shaheed Udham Singh, the centenary of Jallianwala Bagh martyrdom, the historic Kisan movement and the great scientists of the world, Stephen Hawking and Charles Darwin.
The students of different schools shared their experience about the sixth consciousness exam conducted in two stages in October and November this year and said that by reading the curriculum in the books issued for the exam, they learned new knowledge, science, moral values and completely different from the traditional education. Scientific consciousness has become a part of his life. After studying these books, he has succeeded in understanding various superstitions, superstitions, miracles and social evils.
About this examination, the heads of various schools and teachers said that in the present age of science, students are exposed to superstitions, superstitions, myths, birth habits, fatalism, horoscopes, drugs, corruption, casteism, communalism. , scientific approach to face the problems of life, hard work, avoiding the illusions of false sages, sadhs, astrologers, camps, In order to adopt moral values like self-confidence, democracy, secularism, social justice, truth, equality, humanity, etc., it is necessary to conduct such scientific consciousness tests from time to time in educational institutions.
The developed countries of the world are continuously developing by making breakthroughs in science and technology through scientific thinking and increasing the standard of living and average life expectancy of their citizens by ensuring employment, modern education and health facilities, but our governments and Politicians are still trapping their masses in hypocrisy, Deraism, Babaism, conservatism and communalism, throwing them into the dark quagmire of superstition and communal hatred. It is unfortunate that instead of giving the credit of any scientific achievement to science and scientists by the rulers who claim to make India the world guru and the fifth economic power, on that occasion, orthodox rituals, readings, chanting of mantras are done through the priest class. . Therefore, in order to promote scientific consciousness in the Indian society, it is necessary for the governments to implement Article 51-A (H) of the Constitution in a proper manner and to mobilize efforts on a large scale by the progressive and democratic institutions as well as the media.
It is clear that there is a need to develop scientific and social consciousness among the students and the general public and to develop progressive moral values to fight for their basic rights. Such consciousness tests can play an important role in this.
