Terrible fire in Rajouri Garden hotel, students saved their lives with difficulty


New Delhi, December 9

A fire broke out at a hotel (restaurant) in west Delhi’s Rajouri Garden Market on Monday, forcing several students of a nearby institution to jump from the building to an adjoining roof to save themselves. Police said that one person has been taken to hospital with minor injuries. Delhi Fire Services Chief Atul Garg said, “We received information about a fire at Jungle Jamboree Restaurant near Rajouri Garden Metro Station at 2.01 pm. 10 fire tenders were immediately dispatched to the spot to control the fire.”

He said that no casualty has been reported yet and the cause of the fire has not been ascertained. The fire was so fierce that there was an atmosphere of panic among the nearby shopkeepers. Many videos of this incident have gone viral on social media, in which people are seen jumping into the adjacent building to save their lives.

Sources said that more than 20 people were present there at the time of the incident.

Police officials said that the damage to the establishments on the ground floor is less. The police said that so far eight fire tenders have been used and the fire is being brought under control. News-Patiala
