The body of a 22-year-old Indian student who went missing in Scotland was found in the river

London: The body of a 22-year-old Indian student missing since the beginning of December has been found in a river in Scotland. After the body was found, the family members of the deceased student have been informed and formal identification is awaited.

Santra Saju, a resident of Kerala, was a student of Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh. He was last seen on CCTV footage at the Asda supermarket in Almondvale, Livingston, on the evening of December 6. Police Scotland said in a statement that they launched an investigation after a body was found in a river near the village of Newbridge, near Edinburgh.

Police said the body is yet to be formally identified, however, the family of Santara Saju (22) has been informed. Saju’s death has been ruled out as being under suspicious circumstances. According to CCTV footage, Saju was last seen on the evening of December 6 at the Asda supermarket store in Almondvale, Livingston. When she was last seen, she was wearing a black jacket with a fur-lined hood, beige earmuffs and a black facemask, and was carrying a black rucksack.

The report said that Saju’s death is not being considered as suspicious. A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal. After Saju went missing, police issued an urgent appeal for information, describing her as 5ft 6in tall, of Indian origin, slim and with short black hair.

On receiving information about Saju’s disappearance, the police immediately filed a missing report. People were also appealed to inform the police if they have any information about Saju. Saju’s friends and family said her disappearance was out of character and they were very concerned for her safety.
