An MP from the opposition Conservative Party in Britain has appealed to the Home Minister to intervene after masked Khalistani separatists threatened people in his constituency during a screening of Kangana Ranaut’s film ‘Emergency’ in north-west London. .
Bob Blackman told the House of Commons that the film was similarly banned in Wolverhampton, Birmingham, Slough, Staines and Manchester. As a result, Vue and Cineworld have decided to remove the film from many of their cinemas in the UK. Vue and Cineworld operate a number of cinemas in Britain.
Blackman told the MP, “Many people in my area had bought tickets to see the film ‘Emergency’ at the Harrow View cinema on Sunday. About 30 or 40 minutes after the screening of the film, masked Khalistani separatists entered the cinema hall and threatened the audience and forcibly closed the film.”
He said that I am not commenting on the quality or content of this film, but I protect the right of voters of myself and other MPs to watch the film and decide on it. “Can we expect a speech from the Home Secretary (Yvette Cooper) next week on what is being done to ensure that people who want to see such films, who are are sanctioned by the censors, can they do so in peace and harmony?
He said that I fully support the right of protesters outside cinema halls, but not about stopping the screening of the film.” News-Patiala
