Recently, a strange case came to light in the court, in which a girlfriend filed a case against her lover’s wife. Because she did not divorce her husband despite taking the divorce fee. The woman had asked her husband for 1.2 million yuan (about Rs. 1.3 crore) for the divorce.
In this case, a case has been registered against her for refusing to leave her husband in China’s Fujian province. According to the South China Morning Post, Xi had an affair with a married man named Han and they had a child together. Han’s first marriage took place in 2013. Han has two daughters from his first marriage, and in November 2022, Xi also gave birth to a son.
In order to legally become Han’s wife, Xi made a deal with Han’s wife – take 2 million yuan in exchange for a divorce, and the wife also took 1.2 million yuan at the end of 2022. But he neither gave divorce nor returned the money.
After a long wait, Xi has filed a lawsuit to get the money back. However, the court rejected Xi’s lawsuit. He said that such payment is not ethical and affects the fabric of society. The court held that such oral agreements have no legal validity.
However, the court said Han and Yang have already signed divorce papers but the divorce has not yet been finalized due to a mandatory “cooling-off” period. According to Chinese laws, Xi could face charges of polygamy under Chinese law.
