Dalit workers and some persons were beaten up yesterday after the dispute during the panchayat elections in village Jhabbar, in which some persons were injured. Joga Police has registered a case against 8 persons. On the other hand, Mazdoor Mukti Morcha (Azad) Punjab President Bhagwant Singh Samaon has accused some persons of severely beheading three Dalit workers, including an elderly woman.
They say that there is treatment in Mazdoor Civil Hospital Mansa. Instead of taking action against those who beat up the workers, the police have registered a case only against the victim Dalit workers. Desu Singh, a laborer admitted to Civil Hospital Mansa, said that during the panchayat elections, he had a dispute with some people of the village, which was later resolved. He said that when some people called him to his house for a conversation, he was badly beaten by 8-9 people. During this beating, one person has been admitted to Adesh Hospital Bhucho due to severe injuries.
He warned that if the police did not take action, a fierce struggle would be waged by the organization.
Joga police chief Kewal Singh said that the police have registered a case against Gurdeep Singh, Jeevan Singh, Jaspreet Singh, Surjit Singh, Jaswant Singh, Desu Singh, Janta Singh, Baljit Kaur, residents of village Burj Jhabbar.
