But when the matter reached the court, the court termed the man’s act as ‘cruel’ and said that his inhumane treatment of his wife violated his legal obligations as a husband. The man, identified only by his surname Feng, married his wife Wang in 2022, according to the South China Morning Post. Two months later, Wang was diagnosed with colon cancer, which had already reached the last stage.

Feng initially took care of her, but soon abandoned his responsibilities and abandoned her, citing work in another city. Despite repeated attempts by Wang and his family to contact him, Feng did not respond. Facing her illness alone, Wang struggled financially and the hospital incurred huge debts. Tragically, he died after spending more than 200 days in the hospital.

After Feng left, Wang’s family took legal action and filed a lawsuit against him in the Shitai County People’s Court. The lawsuit accused Feng of refusing to provide care and financial support during Wang’s cancer battle. Feng also proposed divorce twice during Wang’s critical illness.
