Lok Sabha Member from Sangrur Gurmeet Singh Meet Heir raised the issue of Rajpura-Chandigarh rail link to connect the entire Malwa region with the state capital Chandigarh by rail in the Lok Sabha. Meet Hare said in the House today that even after 77 years of independence, the people of Malwa region could not connect directly to their capital by rail, for which only Rajpura and Chandigarh have to be connected. He said that the central government refers to the demand for land acquisition. He said that if land can be acquired for building roads then why not for rail service.
Mr. Hare raised another important issue and said that the concession given to senior citizens and sportsmen was stopped during Covid. It should be restarted and students should also be brought under its ambit. He said that no high speed train passes in Barnala-Sangrur area for which this demand should be fulfilled soon.
