Rajasthan govt dissolves 9 districts formed under Ashok Gehlot

The BJP government of Rajasthan has decided to dissolve the nine districts created by the previous Congress government. The government said these districts were neither ‘practical’ nor in the ‘public interest’.

Three new divisions were also dissolved in the state cabinet meeting held here today under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma. Parliamentary Affairs Minister and Law Minister Jogaram Patel said that the state will now have only seven divisions and 41 districts. According to another decision taken in the cabinet meeting, the validity of CET marks in Rajasthan will now be three years instead of one year.

Condemning this decision, the state Congress leadership said that if necessary, they will approach the court. The previous Ashok Gehlot government had formed 17 new districts and three new divisions. The then government had also issued a notification for three new districts, which is also being rejected by the Bhajan Lal Sharma government.

Minister Jogaram Patel said that decisions have been taken on the basis of the report of the cabinet sub-committee and expert committee formed for this purpose. He said, “According to the committee, these new formations are not in the interest of the people and are putting an unnecessary burden on the Rajasthan government.” Patel said that the Congress government had formed new districts and divisions only for political gain. He said that availability of financial resources, administrative requirements, law and order, cultural harmony etc. were not taken into consideration. The minister said that the previous government neither filled the necessary posts in the offices nor constructed office buildings for the new districts.

He said that the government has decided to retain Balotra, Bever, Dig, Didwana-Kuchaman, Kotputli-Bahror, Khairthal-Tijara, Phaludi and Salumbar among the districts created by the Congress. The Cabinet has decided to dissolve the nine newly created districts of Anupgarh, Daddu, Gangapur City, Jaipur Rural, Jodhpur Rural, Kekri, Neem Ka Thana, Sanchaur and Shahpura.

Banswara, Pali and Sikar divisions were dissolved by the state cabinet. It has also decided to scrap three new districts, Malpura, Sujangarh and Kuchaman City, which were announced just before the elections. Patel said that the government has taken this decision after considering all aspects of administration.

Condemn the decision of the BJP government

Condemning this decision of the BJP government, former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said that the decision of the BJP government to cancel nine districts out of the new districts created by our government is just an example of political vendetta. Congress state president Govind Singh Dotasra and opposition leader Tika Ram Julli also condemned this decision. He said that the Congress will launch a public movement against this decision of the state government so that the government withdraws this decision. He said that there was no discussion about the cancellation of the Police Sub-Inspector (SI) recruitment exam in the Cabinet meeting. He said that the Cabinet has decided to reorganize Panchayats, Panchayat Samitis and District Councils in the state.

Meanwhile, Food and Civil Supplies Minister Sumit Godara said in a press conference that Schedule-1 of Rule 14 of the Rajasthan Civil Services (Revised Pay) Rules, 2017 was amended so that the period of Common Aptitude Test scores in Rajasthan can be made valid for three years. -News-Patiala
