The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has proposed a tentative schedule to the International Cricket Council (ICC) for the 2026 T20 World Cup, which will be held in India and Sri Lanka. According to a report in The Indian Express, Pakistan’s matches will be played in Sri Lanka, while the rest of the tournament will be played in India.
Matches will be held in selected cities only…
It was decided in a meeting among the top BCCI officials that this year’s World Cup will be played in fewer cities than the 2023 World Cup, with at least six matches expected at each venue. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had chosen Ahmedabad, Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai and Mumbai. It is understood that three stadiums in Sri Lanka will host the matches, but it is not clear which venues they will be.
There will be no matches on these grounds…
There is also no clarity on whether Bengaluru and Lucknow will be able to host the tournament, as India will share the tournament with Sri Lanka. The Indian board has already decided that the grounds that hosted the 50-over World Cup will not be selected to host the men’s tournament. In India, Guwahati, Visakhapatnam, Indore and Navi Mumbai have hosted Women’s ODI World Cup matches.
