Jasbir Singh Shetrajgaon, December 4

The home guards, who have been occupying the rooms of the government basic primary school here for seven years, have not relinquished their possession despite the orders of the DC. In protest of this, the Sangharsh Committee will take out a protest march from the local bus stand to the residence of the Constituency MLA tomorrow on December 5. To make preparations in this regard, the convener of Sangharsh Committee Avtar Singh, Joginder Azad, DTF leader Devinder Sidhu and others said that there will be a protest meeting under the bridge near the bus stand of Jagraon tomorrow. A rally will be held at this place for an hour and then a protest march will be started which will go to the residence of Constituency MLA Sarvajit Kaur Manunke.

He said that yesterday, a delegation met ADC Harjinder Singh under the leadership of Joginder Azadi and a separate delegation met the District Education Officer Elementary under the leadership of District President Daljit Singh. The Additional Deputy Commissioner expressed his surprise at the delay in freeing the government school rooms from the possession of the Home Guard and assured the DC of informing him. Avtar Singh and Joginder Azad said that this issue has been discussed with some other leaders and MLAs of the ruling party. After this, instructions were given to immediately vacate the school rooms and hand over the students and teachers. Many officials have also taken stock of the situation, but the surprise is that all are unable to release the possession.

Every time the Home Guard Office talks about finding an alternative suitable place, saying that time is running out. After seven years of occupation, several weeks have passed since the order to vacate the rooms was issued in this cycle. A grant of four lakh rupees has come to the school for construction, but as the place is under occupation, it is difficult to get this grant, due to which there is a danger of its going back. The struggle committee said that even after tomorrow’s action, if the orders to release the occupation are not implemented, preparations will be made for a fierce struggle by taking the fraternal organizations along.
