The ongoing dharna in Shaheed Sewa Singh Lakhriwala Chowk by various religious, social, commercial and public democratic organizations under the leadership of some councilors against the city’s sewage system and poor cleaning arrangements continued on the 49th day. The protestors are angry that during the Lok Sabha elections, the Chief Minister had promised to release 44 crore rupees to renew the sewage system during his visit to Mansa, which was not fulfilled.
On the occasion of the dharna, Bahujan Mukti Party District President Jaswant Singh said that the situation has become such that people have started coming to the streets for sewage in different corners of the city. He said that the sewage problem is increasing continuously. He said that the administration and the government have kept silent after giving small assurances. He said that if this problem is not resolved, a fierce struggle will be waged. On this occasion, Municipal Council vice president Rampal Singh, Davinder Singh, Surinder Singh, Hansa Singh, Ajit Singh, Dhanna Mall Goyal, former councilor Gurdeep Singh, Amrik Singh, Harpreet Singh and Inderjit Singh also spoke.
