Winter has started in North India. With this, people are pulling out their quilts and blankets from their closets. Due to prolonged exposure, quilts and blankets can start to smell. Most people send them to the dry cleaners. However, by following some easy tips, you can easily eliminate odors at home, eliminating the need for dry cleaners.
Sunscreen blankets and quilts
To remove odors from quilts and blankets, you can place them in the sun for a while. This will remove the smell. Ultraviolet rays in the sun kill bacteria and fungi. Be sure to expose the blankets to bright sunlight for at least a few hours once a week.
Use camphor
You can also use camphor to remove odors from blankets. Wash the blanket cover. Then put camphor in it before putting the cover on the blanket. This method is very effective in removing odors.
Essential oils will enhance the fragrance
After washing or drying, add a few drops of lavender or tea tree oil to your quilts and blankets. This will keep them smelling light and refreshing.
Neem leaves and camphor
If your quilts and blankets have a slight odor, you can use neem leaves and camphor to remove the odor. When you put your quilt or blanket back in the closet, sprinkle with dry neem leaves or camphor tablets. Neem has antibacterial properties that protect against moisture and mold.
White vinegar
You can also use white vinegar to remove odors from your quilts and blankets. To do this, take a small amount of white vinegar in a spray bottle and mix it with water to make a solution. Spray this mixture on quilts and blankets and keep it under a fan or AC for some time. This will remove the odor from the quilts and blankets.
