The weather will change in Punjab, the weather department has issued an alert till December 12

Today weather: November has been hotter than normal in North India and December too has not experienced any chills yet. The minimum temperature remained above normal. The Meteorological Department has now given a new update regarding the cold weather. The IMD believes that the impact of the cold will be visible only after next week, when the Western Disturbance will become active over the hilly areas of the north.

A significant change is being seen in the weather pattern in the Jammu and Kashmir region. The IMD has predicted severe cold in the coming days. The La Nina effect will affect northern India including Punjab and Delhi plains, causing cooler than normal sea surface temperatures in the central and eastern Pacific Ocean.

There will be heavy snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir
According to the IMD, there will be heavy snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir, due to which the north-westerly winds will move rapidly towards the plains. This is likely to happen after December 11-12. However, the minimum temperature will continue to drop gradually during this time, though it will remain stable around seven degrees. But around December 7-8, a Western Disturbance is forming over the mountains of Jammu and Kashmir, which will bring heavy snowfall.

The impact of this disturbance can be seen in Haryana, Punjab, Chandigarh, Delhi and West Uttar Pradesh after three-four days. Cooler winds from the north will descend quickly and spread over a large area. Minimum temperature may drop from Delhi to Ranchi and Raipur.

According to Skymet Weather, Kerala, Coastal Karnataka, parts of Tamil Nadu and South Interior Karnataka may experience moderate to heavy rain during the next 24 hours. Tamil Nadu, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Coastal Orissa, South Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Lakshadweep and Andaman and Nicobar Islands may experience light to moderate rain. Light rain may occur over North Interior Karnataka, South Central Maharashtra, South Konkan and Goa, parts of Vidarbha and Interior Odisha. There is a possibility of light rain and snowfall in Gilgit Baltistan Muzaffarabad and Jammu and Kashmir. Pollution levels are expected to improve in Delhi and NCR due to increased wind speed in the northern plains.
