‘These are completely legal’, ED interrogated Vijay Devarkonda in case of betting, Kingdom actor clarified

Vijay Devarakonda’s film Kingdom is proving to be a flop in the budget of Rs 130 crore. Meanwhile, Vijay was called by the ED for questioning in the case related to illegal betting. After interrogation, Vijay has given clarification.

Mumbai. Vijay Devarakonda is very much discussed these days. Recently his film Kingdom was released, which is not getting good response from the audience. The plop released on 31 August is proving to be. At the same time, Vijay appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the endorsement of illegal betting platforms. He broke the silence while leaving the ED office in Hyderabad on Wednesday afternoon. Vijay told the media that he is not involved in any illegal activity.

Vijay Devarakonda argued that gaming apps and illegal betting apps are different and hence they should not be connected together. He further claimed that the apps they were promoting are completely legal and licensed by the government. In March this year, an FIR was lodged against 25 celebrities in Hyderabad, including others including Vijay Devarkonda, Rana Daggubati, Prakash Raj, Maanchu Laxmi, Pranita and Nidhi Aggarwal, who were accused of promoting illegal betting apps.

Prakash Raj and Rana Daggubati gave this clarification

The complaint wrote, “These illegal platforms include thousands of millions of rupees and it is putting many families, especially middle class and lower middle class families.” Later, Prakash Raj admitted that even though he had worked in such an advertisement in 2015, he decided to get out of it within a year. On the other hand, Rana Daggubati’s team also clarified that his endorsement deal was in line with the law.

Rana Daggubati will be questioned by ED on August 11

Rana Daggubati is going to appear before the ED on 11 August. Manchu Lakshmi has been called for questioning on 13 August. In July this year, the Enforcement Directorate also questioned Bollywood stars Urvashi Rautela and Sonu Sood in the betting app case. Many other popular celebrities, including Harbhajan Singh, Yuvraj Singh and Suresh Raina, were also questioned by the agency. An ED official said, “These platforms have acquired heavy views by partnering with celebrities and influencers. While these were clearly banned.”
