December 21 has been declared a public holiday due to municipal elections in Punjab. This announcement has been made by the Election Commission. The notification states that apart from 5 municipal corporations and 41 municipal councils, some ward-wise by-elections will be held on December 21, 2024.
December 21 (Saturday) has been declared a public holiday under the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881 in all government offices of Punjab under the jurisdiction of municipal bodies where elections are going to be held. Special leave will be given to government employees who are voters of these municipal bodies but employed elsewhere.
