The local police have arrested three people on the charge of stealing money from the account holders by tampering with the ATM. A woman is also included among the accused. According to the information received, the accused used to steal by taping the card inside the ATM.
Today, when the three accused came to withdraw money from the machine, the caretaker of the ATM came to know about it and closed the shutter from outside. The employee immediately informed the police of police station division number 7. The police reached the spot and arrested Ram, Sanju and Mamta resident of Nurmahal and registered a case.
Complainant Vipan Chandra said that he has a tile showroom on Tajpur Road and there is also an ATM of a private bank. He also does the maintenance of the machine, for which they have also installed CCTV cameras. Around 4 pm, his employee Kuldeep Singh said that when a person went to withdraw money from the ATM, one thousand rupees was deducted from the account, but the money did not come out of the ATM. When he went and checked the ATM, the exit point was blocked by a paper. When the leaf was taken out, one thousand rupees also came out. After that, they checked the CCTV cameras and found that a woman and two persons had gone there with tape. When the said person went to the ATM again, they caught the young man standing outside and closed the shutter of the ATM and informed the police. A red tape, ATM card and other items were recovered from the possession of the accused.
