A factory owner accused a woman, her three daughters and a son of stealing clothes and blackened their faces in Ekjot Nagar area of Bahadur K Road here. Placards written ‘I am a thief’ were also found around his neck. After this, the five were taken around the whole neighborhood and shouted slogans of thieves. Some youth made a video of it and made it viral on social media. After the video went viral, the Basti Jodhewal police reached the spot. The police have registered a case against the factory owner Parvinder Singh, manager Manpreet Singh and the worker in this case. They will be produced in the court on Thursday.
According to information, there is a garment factory called Deep Collection in Ekjot Nagar area. Some clothes were being stolen from the factory for some time. After seeing the footage of the CCTV camera, the factory owner became suspicious of the woman living in the area, her daughters and son, so they were called to the factory. A ruckus broke out there on their arrival. The factory owner blackened the faces of the five and took them around the neighborhood without informing the police. Some youth made a video and shared it on social media, after which the police got the information.
The woman said that the young man living with her had stolen. He used to steal goods from the factory and sell them outside. Their only mistake is that they bought goods from that young man. They later found out that these were stolen clothes. The woman said that her daughters were also beaten up.
SHO Inspector Jasbir Singh of Police Station Basti Jodhewal said that a case has been registered against three including the factory owner and the accused have been arrested.
Women’s Commission took noticeB
After the video went viral on social media, the Punjab Women’s Commission has also taken notice of the matter. The Punjab Women’s Commission has issued a notice to the Ludhiana Police and ordered them to take immediate action after taking cognizance of the matter.
