Tom Moody will replace former Indian fast bowler Zaheer Khan as LSG’s cricket operations head in IPL 2025.

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) has decided to appoint former Australian all-rounder Tom Moody as its Global Director of Cricket.

In this position, Moody will not only oversee the Lucknow team of IPL but also the Durban Super Giants of SA20 League and the Manchester team of England’s The Hundred League. Along with this, he will work closely with the team’s current head coach Justin Langer and recently appointed strategic advisor Kane Williamson.

Has been the coach of Hyderabad Sunrisers Tom Moody has led many teams to success in international and franchise cricket over the last two decades. Recently, he led England’s Oval Invincibles team to win The Hundred League title for the third consecutive time. Apart from this, he has also been the head coach of the Desert Vipers team of the ILT20 league, which achieved the runner-up position in 2023 and 2025.

At the same time, he has served as a coach for Sunrisers Hyderabad between 2013 and 2019. In 2021, he was appointed Director of Cricket.

According to reports, Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), the owner of England’s Surrey County and Mumbai Indians, also wanted to retain Moody. However, Moody’s accepted LSG’s proposal.

Moody will replace former Indian fast bowler Zaheer Khan, who was the team’s head of cricket operations in IPL 2025. LSG’s poor performance in the last two seasons LSG had made consecutive playoff appearances in its first two seasons (2022 and 2023), but their performance has declined in the last two years. The team finished seventh in IPL 2025, winning just six out of 14 matches. While the team registered five wins in the first eight matches, it could achieve only one win in the last six matches. The team could win only two out of seven matches played at its home ground Ekana Stadium.

Moody has won the title of World Champion twice Moody was part of Australia’s ODI World Champion team in 1987 and 1999. He has also been the head coach of the Sri Lankan cricket team from 2005-2007. During his tenure, the Sri Lankan team was also successful in reaching the final of the 2007 World Cup. However, Australia won the title by defeating Sri Lanka in the final.
