Washington, January 25
US President Donald Trump has asked the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries to cut oil prices, arguing that this would stop the Russia-Ukraine war. He had made the same claim earlier. Addressing the annual World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland via video conference, Trump accused the OPEC alliance of oil-exporting countries of being responsible for the nearly three-year conflict in Ukraine.
“We want to see OPEC cut oil prices,” the US president told reporters in North Carolina on Friday. This will automatically stop the tragedy unfolding in Ukraine. It is a terrible tragedy for both sides.” He said that a large number of Russian and Ukrainian soldiers have died in the conflict so far. There are over a million dead, and they’re losing thousands a week. News-Patiala
