New Delhi, January 1
The Indian Navy will induct two indigenously built warships and a diesel-electric submarine into service on January 15. These include missile destroyer ‘Surat’, stealth warship ‘Nilgiri’ and submarine ‘Wagshir’, which are equipped with sophisticated weapons and sensors, officials said. These warships and submarines will be inducted into service at a function organized by the Navy in Mumbai. All three have been designed and manufactured at Mumbai-based Mazagaun Dock Shipbuilders Ltd., a testament to India’s growing self-reliance in the defense sector, officials said. -News-Patiala
