Under-19 Cricket Asia Cup: India defeated Japan by 211 runs

Captain Mohammad Aman’s unbeaten century and half-centuries from KP Karthike and opener Ayush Mahatre helped India beat Japan by a huge margin of 211 runs in the U-19 Asia Cup Group A match here today. After scoring 339 runs for six wickets, India restricted Japan to 128 runs for the loss of eight wickets. Aman scored 122 runs in 118 balls with the help of seven fours. Similarly, Karthikeya hit five fours and a six during his innings of 57 runs off 49 balls. Mahatre scored 54 runs in 29 balls. Called to bat first, Andre Siddharth (38), Hardik Raj (25 not out) and Vaibhav Suryavanshi (23) also contributed well for the Indian team. Hugo Kelly and Kiefer Yamamoto-Lake took two wickets each for Japan. Chasing the target, the Japanese team could score only 128 runs for eight wickets. However, the Indian team will be disappointed if they fail to all out Japan. -PTI
