New Delhi: Star batsman Virat Kohli has been included in the Delhi team for the two matches of Ranji Trophy round two. Whether or not Kohli will play the match depends on his availability. Right-handed batsman Virat Kohli’s recent tour of Australia has not been anything special, in which he managed to score 190 runs in 9 innings. Virat scored an unbeaten century in the first innings of the first Test match played in Perth. After this, his bat remained quiet in the remaining four Test matches.
According to Hindustan Times, ‘Virat Kohli has been included in the Delhi team for the next two matches while Rishabh Pant has also returned with him.’ Virat Kohli was similarly dismissed 8 times in the Border Gavaskar Test series on the tour of Australia. Kohli returned to the pavilion by hitting his bat on the ball going outside the off-stump. The 36-year-old’s Test form has declined over the past five years and he has scored just five centuries.
Currently, it cannot be said whether Virat Kohli will play the match against Saurashtra on January 23 or not. Kohli last played a Ranji match in 2012. If he plays, it will be the first time in 13 years that he will play a Ranji match. On the other hand, Pant’s name was also included in the team for the match against Saurashtra and Railways. If Pant plays a match against Saurashtra, he will be playing a Ranji match for the first time in seven years. Ayush Badoni has been made the captain of the team.
